Wow! And they're at it again. It looks like my previous writing was right on time. They call themselves, The Religious Right; and perhaps you call them that too. I'm afraid I must agree with the first part. They are or certainly know how to appear religious. But they definitely are not right.
They are just like the other zealots who would love to see the present administration fail. They don't care what it is, they oppose it. And they oppose it for one reason and one reason, only - He's a Democrat and he's Black. So they must be against every thing that is offered by this President. (Remember, the flap over his talking to the school children, just a few days ago?) Give me a break, please! Oh and just for the record, yes, I am a life-long Democrat. Also for the record, I do and I did agree with some Republican ideas and programs. Except for the invasion of Iraq, I did not oppose most of their ideas, even though I disagreed with them. You see there is a difference between disagreeing with a proposed program and opposing one. If I disagree with an idea, I am merely expressing my opinion. Were it up to me, I would do it differently. But when I oppose an action or idea, I want to prevent it from happening. That is a big difference. I've learned in life, that you don't have to oppose everything that you disagree with. The other person or group is entitled to their opinion just as much as I am. What's more, just because I don't like it or don't think that it will work, doesn't mean that I am right. Guess what? It just my work.
But back to those so-called Religious Right. What irks me is that they take their hidden (and sometimes, not-so-hidden) agendas, and wrap them in the Bible or if necessary, the flag and the Bible, and then put them forth as morally right. They have done this time and time again. So I am pretty much dumbfounded at how many church folk or so-called Christians fall for it.
I didn't want to go too deep into the issue in this writing. But, let's examine their "prized" topic, abortion. How in the world can you be subdued into thinking that these people care about abortion? They don't! But they know that if they use the right words and phrases (just like some of your preachers on Sunday morning), you will swallow it - hook, line, and sinker. The key is not so much to get you to do the right thing, but to make you feel guilty and therefore afraid NOT to follow their lead. If you truly are Christians or if you have read the Bible, you should know what this is all about. Somewhere in the Bible, we are warned about "wolves in sheep clothing". That's all this amounts to.
You cannot be pro-choice and not care about the children who are already born into this world, while at the same time act as though you're so concerned about the unborn. In fact, where's the cry, where's the uproar about the babies and other children of Iraq? Or don't they count?
You need to quit allowing yourselves and your beliefs to be manipulated just for your vote.
Well, since I don't know who will be the people reading this, I had better stop now. If you are Christian, you should have a different view point than a non-Christian. But for those of you who are ...II Timothy 2:15
