Hello again, to all my friends and foes. Now that you've had a week or two to look at yourselves and discover what you're worth, let's move on.
One of the hot topics of the day is "Universal Healthcare". Personally, I could really take an ambiguous position on such a subject as this but, I guess I will go ahead and weigh in.
First of all, I think this is much-ado about nothing. You had a few rabble rousers at first, the kind that you might have in any political difference. But in today's environment of 24 hours (so-called) news and tooooo many news channels, it is easy to promote anarchy in the streets, or at least the appearance of anarchy. The rabble rousers know how to exploit and take advantage of the saturation of mass media.
And by this time it really is not about health care. It's more about a competition. It is us vs them - conservatives vs liberals - the haves vs the have nots - my team vs your team. And as I said, it's really not about the issues; it is just competing for the sport of it.
But things have gotten so inflammed until I think that there will be a backlash against the rabble rousing. This bill will pass although it will not be nearly as comprehensive as the proponents had hoped.
